Pantakin is proud to present the third edition of the festival Teatro in Campo.

Coming from a long tradition of professional theatre since 1995, Pantakin is the proud heir of the Commedia dell’Arte style, made famous worldwide by the likes of Arlecchino, Colombina, Pantalone and all the other typical masks of the traditional Venetian style theatre.

Come to our shows for a unique experience of a traditional theatre proposed in a modern and completely new style!

We look forward to seeing you on September 14th at 6:30 PM at the Parco della Bissuola Theater in Mestre for the premiere of the new show by Pantakin and Kublai Film, in collaboration with Theama Teatro, as part of the KTM Kill The Moonlight Project by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice: Young Goldoni – Mysteries in Venice

This event offers a unique opportunity to witness a continuous interplay between the everyday life of a dark, unscrupulous, and captivating Venice and the text of The Servant of Two Masters. Through different dimensions and visions, the videos will amplify the experience, and the theater will bring it to life.

For the first time, the audience will discover the true story of how the young playwright Carlo Goldoni began writing his most famous work, drawing inspiration from a whirlwind of comic, lascivious, and violent acts encountered in a shadowy Venice. In this setting, he meets an Arlecchino—a character akin to a violent anarchic devil, vastly different from the harmless mask passed down to us by the codes of Commedia dell’Arte.

The program continues this year with the traditional Commedia dell’Arte, a hallmark of Pantakin. On September 17th, 18th, 20th, and 21st at 8:30 PM, Marco Polo and the princess – a tragicomic love story returns to Venice at the cloister of SS. Cosma e Damiano on Giudecca Island, directed and written by Michele Modesto Casarin, following its great success at Carnival 2024 and an international tour.

This adventure, marked by the common thread of love, features courtship and riddles that will leave you breathless, adventurous journeys across treacherous seas, and oriental rhythms. Through the entertaining game of Commedia, in which the audience will also participate in our scenario, the bittersweet story unfolds from ancient China to the Court of the Milion here in Venice, where Love and Death will intertwine in a passionate duel.

The program continues on September 19th at 8:30 PM with an exploration of Shakespearean theater with Henry the Fifth by Casa Shakespeare of Verona, written and performed by Solimano Pontarollo. With a minimalist stage set—featuring just a small table, a cassette recorder, and an old backpack—the performance immediately evokes the memory of Krapp’s Last Tape, setting the stage for a powerful and unexpected twist.

Through a skillful blend of recordings and monologues, the audience is transported into the tumultuous world of Henry the Fifth, an ambitious and charismatic king who leads his army to fight on foreign soil. The soldier protagonist on stage gradually overwhelms the audience, eventually drawing them into the action.

Free entry

Finally, on September 21st at 6:30 PM, the cloister of SS. Cosma e Damiano will host the performance Taiwan’s Tiger meets San Marco’s Lion, the final presentation of the Advanced Course on the Performer, promoted as part of the TeSeO Project by the Veneto Region and the Teatro Stabile del Veneto – Teatro Nazionale.

This workshop for professional actors, once again involving our director and co-artistic director Michele Modesto Casarin, focuses on the encounter between the masks of Commedia dell’Arte and those of the East. It features the extraordinary participation of Taiwanese Master Wu Hsing-Kuo, who will teach the techniques of Beijing Opera and share his vision of contemporary theater.
